Garlic and Herb Labneh
Labneh is yogurt that has been salted and strained through cheesecloth to remove the liquid whey. This Middle Eastern staple can be served plain or dressed up with garlic, herbs, spices and olive oil. This recipe requires at least 12 hours of straining time. Plan accordingly.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups Whole-Fat Greek Yogurt
- 1/2 tsp kosher salt
- cheesecloth
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 1 tsp chopped dill
- 1 tbsp chopped basil
- 1 tbsp chopped mint
- 1 tbsp chopped parsley
Instructions
- In a bowl, add the yogurt and salt. Stir well.
- Place the yogurt into a double-lined cheesecloth. Tie the cheesecloth onto a long wooden spoon. Suspend the cheesecloth over a bowl by resting the spoon across the top of the bowl. Place into the fridge and let strain for 12 hours, up to 24.
- Place the strained yogurt into a mixing bowl. Add the garlic, dill, basil, mint and parsley. Stir to combine.
- Place onto a serving plate and top with optional olive oil. Serve with warm pita or crusty bread.
