1bottle of dry red wine, pinot noir or a nice red blend
1/2cupbourbon
2tablespoonsorange liqueur
1/2cupsage simple syrup, see notes for recipe
sparkling water, optional
Instructions
Place the cherries into a large pitcher. Pour the remaining ingredients over the cherries. Stir well.
Let the sangria marinate over night (or at least 6 hours) in the fridge.
Serve over ice. Top with sparkling water and a sage leaf.
Notes
Sangria taste best when allowed to marinate over night. Don’t expect delicious flavor an hour or two after mixing. Also, don’t splurge on wine for this mix, a moderate to cheap bottle of wine works fine. I like to double this recipe, because it tends to go fast.Click here for sage simple syrup recipe.
