Cherry Sage Sangria
Servings: 8
Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups cherries, pitted and halved
- 1 bottle of dry red wine, pinot noir or a nice red blend
- 1/2 cup bourbon
- 2 tablespoons orange liqueur
- 1/2 cup sage simple syrup, see notes for recipe
- sparkling water, optional
Instructions
- Place the cherries into a large pitcher. Pour the remaining ingredients over the cherries. Stir well.
- Let the sangria marinate over night (or at least 6 hours) in the fridge.
- Serve over ice. Top with sparkling water and a sage leaf.
Notes
Sangria taste best when allowed to marinate over night. Don’t expect delicious flavor an hour or two after mixing. Also, don’t splurge on wine for this mix, a moderate to cheap bottle of wine works fine. I like to double this recipe, because it tends to go fast.
